三木　俊治／MIKI,Toshiharu 【年譜】 　 1945-52　戦後の開拓農民であった両親のもと栃木県那須野が原に生れる。幼時期の記 　　　　　 憶はとにかく食べ物がなかったこと。得意技は木登り、それは遊びというだけで 　　　　　 なく、自らの糧は自らの手で獲得する「開拓っ子」の必須科目でもあった。蛙や 　　　　　 蜂の子を食べられない家族は栄養失調になった。 1952-57　箒根村立関谷小学校入学。1年生の時描いた三輪車の絵を見て担任の君島先 　　　　　 生が驚いた。6年生の時一緒に写生をしていた郡司先生が、その場で水彩絵 　　　　　 の具一式をプレゼントしてくれた。 1958-60　箒根村立箒根中学校入学。でも勉強は大嫌い。3年生の時の通信簿は英語[1]、 　　　　　 体育[5]、美術[4]。　 1961-63　栃木県立大田原高校入学。生来の「あがり生」を克服するため柔道部へ入部。 　　　　　 2段を取得し、主将となる。3年生になって自分は何をやりたいのか悩み、 　　　　　 消去法を繰り返す。本に載っていたミケランジェロの彫刻を見て「俺、こういう 　　　　　 もの作ってみようかな」と呟いた。すかさず母が「お前ならできるよ」と家事の 　　　　　 手を休めることなく言った。 1964-65　高校を卒業後、彫刻は学校で学ぶものではないと思い、千葉県の知的障害児施 　　　　　 設八幡学園(山下清の母校)に住み込みで働きながら彫刻を始める。しかし、独 　　　　　 学の限界に突き当たる。 1966-67　自棄的な気持ちから新宿でヒッピー生活を始める。しばらくしてうわべだけの芸術 　　　　　 デカダンを気取っていることにやりきれなくなり、ふとしたきっかけで知り合った 　　　　　 会計士・奥村三男氏に拾われて居候となる。社会的規範から外れてしまった私 　　　　　 に、全く逆の位置にいる氏は興味があったのだろうか。 　　　　　 以後、様々な職業に就きながら美術研究所に通う。後に大学へ進学し、多くの 　　　　　 美術家から教えを受けるが、その規範＝羈絆から逃れたいという願望は常に 　　　　　 離れなかった。それは単なる反抗というより、エスカレーター式の作家養成の 　　　　　 過程に乗ってしまうことを潔しとしない心構えからであった。 1968-71　東京造形大学彫刻専攻入学。在学中「彫刻に何ができるか」を自問し、様々な 　　　　　 国の人々が「何を考え」「どのようにつくるか」を見るために旅にでる。メキシコの 　　　　　 小さな村で黙々と機織るインディオの老婆に会い「ものつくり」の原点を知る。 　　　　　 思想は頭で言葉を追うだけではなく「たなごころ」の中にも宿るということを確信 　　　　　 する。 1969　　　初めての海外旅行でインドへ行きそれまでの常識を覆される。 1970-71　メキシコのモレリア市で柔道を教える。　　　　 1971　　　メキシコのグアダラハラ市で交通事故に遭い2ケ月入院。スペイン語を覚える。 1972　　　東京造形大学彫刻専攻研究生となる。 1973-79　東京造形大学助手となる。 1974　　　合気道2段取得。 1975-82　MIH旅行団を組織し、若者を海外に(インド、アフガニスタン、メキシコ、etc.)へ 　　　　　 引っぱり歩く。延べ参加者は100人以上。 1976-86　新具象彫刻展創立会員となる。 1977　　 日本剣道連盟　杖道2段取得。 1978　　 インド旅行中に化膿した足を麻酔無しで手術を受け、気を失う。 1979　　 戒厳令下のアフガニスタンで機関銃を持った兵士にホールドアップさせられる。 1980-85　東京造形大学講師となる。 1985　　 つくばＥＸＰＯ集英社館の制作。（共同制作） 1986-93　東京造形大学助教授となる。 1986　　 生まれて初めて、本当に歩けなくなるまで歩く。目標を失ったとき人間はいったい 　　　　　 どうなるのだろう‥などと、歩くことについて考え、その大切さを知る。 1987-88　スペインのマドリードに滞在。 1987　　 パリからサンティアゴ・デ・コンポステラの巡礼の道[※注1]1800kmを踏破。 　　　　　 奇跡は起こらなかったが、自分の内なる畑を豊かにすることができた。 1988　　 International Marching League公認の8つの国際歩け大会（日本、オランダ、 　　　　　 オーストリア、ルクセンブルグ、アイルランド、ベルギー、スイス、デンマーク） 　　　　　 を世界で最初に完歩。 1992　　 伊勢神宮から熱田神宮までの120kmを一日で歩く。(1993にも) 1993　　 東京造形大学教授となる。 1995 　　 NHK新日曜美術館「生命の彫刻－中原悌二郎の生涯」出演。 　　　　　 「行列」をつなぐ三木俊治彫刻展を全国で展開する実行委員会が活動を開始。 1996　　 テレビ美術館(フジテレビ)「TUES 1996－三木俊治展／具象の新しい流れ」出演。 　　　　　 生まれて初めて税務相談に奥村会計事務所に行く。20歳のとき奥村氏に拾われ 　　　　　 てなければ、あのまま新宿で段ボールハウス生活をしていたかもしれない。氏は 　　　　　一言 「よかった」とにっこり。 1998　　 「限界挑戦実行委員会[※注2]」設立。 2000-01「21世紀へ歩く」2000/12/31→2001/01/01に120km歩くプロジェクト。 　　　　　 毎日新聞紙上に掲載され32名が挑戦。 2002　　 ダンテ“神曲”を各国21作家で作成する版画プロジェクトの三木担当 　　　　　 (地獄編第5歌〜第9歌)部分をGALERIE QVADRIGE(Nice France)で発表。 2003　　 私のしごと館「日本の職業800種ビデオライブラリー／彫刻家」に佐藤忠良、 　　　　　 上原三千代と共に出演。このビデオを制作した独立行政法人雇用・能力開発機 　　　　　構は 閣議決定(2008)により廃止。 2004　　 重要文化財・旧伊達郡役所(福島県桑折町)に作品の搬入陳列した日の夕方に 　　　　　中越地震が起きた。近かったのでかなり揺れた。翌朝、展示作品を点検したが無 　　　　　事だった。 2005　　 香港で気絶して入院。 2006　　 若い作家から購入した作品は数百点。その作家たちの作品に今は手が出ない。 　　　　　それが嬉しい。教え子を作家に育てるには作品を買うこと。 2007　　 教え子から「モチベーションを保ち続けるには如何」というメールが来た。 　　　　　そういえば展示回数は優に百を超えていた。 2008　　 アトランタ、シドニー、アテネのオリンピック砲丸投げで金銀銅メダルリスト全員が 　　　　　使用した辻谷政之の制作した砲丸に彫刻した作品を2008/08/08に発表。 2009　　 東京造形大学に入学してから40年以上が経った。母校の東京造形大学で後輩の 　　　　　指導にあたりながら、逆に学生たちから大いに刺激を吸収しているこの頃である。 　　　　　人生まだまだ手が抜けない。 　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　~~~ 　本当に歩けなくなるまで歩いた年から20数年、歩くことは健康に良いとかいうだけでな 　く、 ｢もっと奥の深いものだということが分かりかけてきた。とても遠い目標、とても高い 　目標に向かうには急いではいけない。しかし、休んではいけない。目標を決めたら、一 　歩一歩努力していくしかない。楽な道や近道や逃げ道からは目標にたどり着くことは出 　来ない。歩くことは彫刻の道にも通じていたのだ。70数回に及ぶ海外への旅は作品に 　も深く関わっている。世界各地で見た様々な意味を持つ行列、インドで見た大群衆から 　受けた感銘をもとに、シリーズ「行列」が生まれた。 　 「行列」は人間が意識して作るものである。「行列」は人間の連鎖であるが、世の中は 　人間だけで独立して生きているのではない。水があり、土があり、空気があり、地球が 　 あり、宇宙がある。「行列」は人間のシンボリックな形象であり、宇宙のシンボリックな 　形象である。 「行列」は人類の未来を示唆する。 　　 ※注1＝ヨーロッパのキリスト教徒が奇跡を求めて10〜13世紀に発達した巡礼の道。 　　　　　　　 最盛期には50万人が歩いた。 　　 ※注2＝120km/24hの強歩会を主催し挑戦者の記録を認定する。 　　　　　　　 今までに正式完歩者は1名。自らは2度完歩している。 【主な受賞】 　 1982　第２回高村光太郎大賞展《佳作賞》 　　　 日野市シンボルモニュメント・コンペティション《優勝》 1984　第３回高村光太郎大賞展《美ケ原高原美術館賞》 　　　 ＯＹＡＭＡー彫刻のある街へ展《栃木県立美術館賞》 1985　信楽シンボルモニュメント・コンペティション《佳作賞》 　　　 第１回現代日本具象彫刻展《大賞》 　　　 神戸具象彫刻展《優秀賞》 　　　 第５回天展《道友社賞》 1989　真岡市シンボルモニュメント・コンペティション《優勝》 　　　 第３回東京野外現代彫刻展《優秀賞》 　　　 第２０回中原悌二郎賞《優秀賞》 1990 ふれあいロード彫刻展《大賞》 1992　あおもり野外彫刻展《優秀賞》 1995　｢朝来2001野外彫刻展in 多々良木‘95｣【町民賞】 1996　美ケ原高原美術館開館15周年記念 　　　 《The Utsukushi-ga-hara Endowment for Sculpture》 1998 第15回神戸須磨離宮公園現代彫刻展《神奈川県立近代美術館賞》 　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　《宇部市野外彫刻美術館賞》【主な個展】 1981　三木俊治彫刻展(西紘画房,東京) 1982　三木俊治彫刻展(東武ギャラリー,宇都宮) 1984　三木俊治彫刻展(埼玉県立近代美術館) 1985　三木俊治彫刻展(ふじよし画廊,宇都宮) 1992　PEOPLE LINE - [1952-57] Entered the elementary school. In the first grade, my teacher, 　　　　　　Ms. Kimijima, was surprised to see a picture I drew of a tricycle. 　　　　　　In the sixth grade, while sketching with my teacher, Mr. Gunji, 　　　　　　he gave me a whole set of watercolors on the spot. [1958-60] Entered the junior high school. But hated studying. In the ninth grade 　　　　　　my report card was “A” in physical education and “E” in English. [1961-63] Entered the senior high school. To overcome the “stage fright”I was 　　　　　　born with, joined the Judo club in school. Acquired the 2nd dan 　　　　　　[The Kodokan Judo Institute], and became the captain.In my senior 　　　　　　year, thought about what I wanted to do with my life and kept 　　　　　　eliminating jobs I did not want to do. One day, saw Michelangelo’s 　　　　　　sculpture in a book and mumbled “Maybe I’ll make something like 　　　　　　this” My mother instantly replied “ I’m sure you can” without even 　　　　 　 stopping what she was doing. [1964-65] After graduated the senior high school, decided that sculpture 　　　　　　was not something to lean, and began to create sculptures. 　　　　　　At the same time, worked and lived in a mentally deficient 　　　　　　children’s home named Yawata-Gakuen in Chiba. Reached 　　　　　　my limits of self-teaching, and was overwhelmed by the feeling 　　　　　　of self-abandonment. [1966-67] Began to live like a hippie on the streets in Shinjuku. 　　　　　　After awhile, could not stand my superficial pose that I faked 　　　　　　as a Decadent artist. Through a strange coincidence, I was 　　　　　　picked up by an accountant named Mitsuo Okumura, and lived 　　　　　　with him in his house. He might have been interested in me, 　　　　　　because I was outside the social restrictions, while he abided 　　　　　　by the rules. After this period I experienced various jobs, 　　　　　　during which time I also went to an art school. Later entered 　　　　　　an art university, and studied under many professors who 　　　　　　were also artists. But my desire to escape from restrictions 　　　　　　never left me. This feeling was not simply from my rebellious 　　　　　　spirit, but from my frame of mind, which could not approve 　　　　　　getting an easy ride on an escalator like artists’ training course. [1968-71] Entered Tokyo Zokei University, Sculpture Department. During 　　　　　　college, from wondering too much about “What can sculpture 　　　　　　accomplish,” went to different countries to find out “What 　　　　　　people think about” and “How they create their works.” 　　　　　　In a small village in Mexico, an old Indio woman who silently 　　　　　　kept on weaving under a tree taught me the basic attitude 　　　　　　of creating a work. This experience enabled me to step out 　　　　　　of the anguish I felt from Japan’s “Theoretical” methods. 　　　　　　I perceived what people who create object with their own 　　　　　　hands should be like. I was convinced that “Thoughts” are not 　　　　　　only acquired by pursuing words in one’s mind, but also dwell 　　　　　　inside “掌= one’s palms” People today, whose minds come to 　　　　　　a deadlock, are forgetting to make use of their hands and feet. [2009] 　　The above passed for 40 years since I entered Tokyo Zokei 　　　　　　University.It is these days when it absords stimulation from 　　　　　　students very much adversely while dealing with the guidance 　　　　　　of younger student in Tokyo Zokei University of the old school. 　　　　　　A hand does not pass through the life still more. 　　　　　　~~~ 　　　　　　20 years have passed since that day when I could walk no more. I am 　　　　　　finally starting to find out that walking is not just fun, or good for my health, 　　　　　　but has a much deeper meaning. In order to approach the goal that is for or 　　　　　　high, I must not be in haste. Nor should I take a rest. Once the goal is set, 　　　　　　there is not the way except making an effort step by step. The goal is 　　　　　　unreachable if I take an easy road, shortcut or way of escape. Now I 　　　　　　know that walking is common to the way of sculpture. More than 80 times 　　　　　　journeys abroad, I took had strongly influenced my work. The series of 　　　　　　works “People Line” was created from the various lines of people that 　　　　　　I encountered, in which I found significant meanings, and also from being 　　　　　　deeply moved by the big crowds of people I encountered in India. 　　　　　　The time I have spent walking has been very important for my sculpture. 　　　　　　“People Line” is formed intentionally by people.“People Line” is a chain 　　　　　　of people, but we are not independently living in the world.
